Keegan Bisch

Keegan is Vice President of Originations for Stonehill Strategic Capital responsible for sourcing and structuring new hotel debt and preferred equity opportunities throughout the western United States. With 15 years in the industry and over $1 billion in real estate transactions over his career, Keegan has extensive experience in bridge lending, construction financing, mezzanine and preferred equity transactions.

Prior to joining Stonehill, Keegan served as head of debt and structured finance for Lowe Enterprises Investors, a Los Angeles based institutional investment manager with over $2 billion in assets under management. He led the firm’s lending activities including sourcing and closing senior loan and structured investments of $10 to $75 million on behalf of state pension fund clients. He also previously served as an asset manager for Lowe’s commercial real estate investments in commingled funds and separate accounts. Prior to Lowe, Keegan worked in CMBS loan origination for Goldman Sachs Commercial Mortgage Capital, L.P.

Evens Charles

Evens Charles is the founder and managing principal of Frontier Development & Hospitality Group LLC. A native of Washington, D.C, Mr. Charles attended Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he was a Big East Conference Division I football athlete. During his five-year athletic tenure at Temple University, he earned a B.A. in Psychology and a Master of Education. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Charles was inspired by his landlord and began investing in real estate, which lead him to start Frontier. At the age of 25, he executed his first small transaction that required an out-of-pocket investment of $1,000 resulting in a $25K profit six months later. This transaction was the catalyst that catapulted Mr. Charles into real estate investing. After a ten-year period of several successful luxury residential and multi-family acquisition and development projects, Mr. Charles, at the age of 36, had led Frontier to its first hotel investment. The firm has since grown to over a nine-figure portfolio of Hilton and Marriot Internationally branded hotel assets across six states.

His accomplishments have been recognized as one of the 2019 Black Enterprise largest 100 Black-Owned Businesses in the nation; 2019 Outstanding Entrepreneur Award by the Caribbean American Heritage; The 2016 Deal of Year Award for the DoubleTree by Hilton Largo, MD, presented by NABHOOD; the 2010 Entrepreneur of the Year awarded by NAMD; the 2010 Outstanding Hotelier Award presented by the Asian American Hotel Owners Association; 2009 Hotel Owner of the Year Award; and the 10 People Under 40 to Watch in 2010 awarded by the Philadelphia Tribune Magazine. He has performed speaking engagements throughout the country for several professional organizations and has been featured in various publications including Hotel Business, Lodging Magazine, Black Enterprise & Business Journals across multiple cities.

He has an endowed scholarship in his name at Temple University targeting underserved students, supports many philanthropic causes and serves as a mentor to many. He is also a member of Temple University’s School of Hospitality & Tourism Board of Visitors, member of the Real Estate Executive Council (REEC), as well as industry organizations such as the National Alliance of African American Hotel Owners and the Asian American Hotel Owners Association.

AAHOA Vice Chairman

Vinay Patel

Vinay Patel serves as the Vice Chair of AAHOA. He  was born in Malawi, Africa. At the age of 8, he and his family migrated to the United States, where he assisted at the family motel doing everything from housekeeping to working the front desk. Upon graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.S. in Marketing and B.A. in Business, Vinay continued the family business at a small 15-room motel in Richmond, VA.

 

Presently, Vinay is the president of Fairbrook Hotels, which owns and operates 11 properties, including IHG, Hilton, Radisson, Choice, and Wyndham brands.

 

Vinay has been a passionate champion for hoteliers in the nation’s capital. His leadership in advocacy includes testifying before the U.S. House of Representatives on regulatory issues affecting franchisees, hosting roundtable meetings with public officials to illustrate the importance of the lodging industry on the American economy and working with lawmakers on banking rules that affect small-business owners.  

 

In 1993, he became a member of AAHOA, the voice of America’s hotel owners, and has served on its board since 2014. He was elected Secretary of the association in 2018. Vinay also serves on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Hospitality and Tourism Association and is the president of the Herndon Hospitality Association. Vinay previously served on the boards of directors of AHLA and the Loudoun (VA) Convention Visitors Bureau.

Ryan Huntsman

Ryan Huntsman serves as a Vice President of Sales for Chicago Title Company’s National Commercial Sales division in Southern California. He joined the company as a result of the recent acquisition of the TransAmerican Escrow Company in Newport Beach.

 

Ryan started his career in commercial real estate in 2002, working in Escrow. Since then, he has exceled in various positions within the Title Insurance and Escrow industries. He is always a perpetual student of our economy, and holds Series 6,7, 63, 65, 66 Securities licenses along with Life and Health Insurance sales licenses. Currently licensed in real estate sales, Ryan is well versed in both commercial and residential contracts. After successfully helping a multi-million dollar start-up company flourish, he eventually negotiated the acquisition of his company.

 

Ryan enjoyed all of the great golf and surf that San Diego had to offer while earning Dean’s List honors upon graduation from The University of San Diego. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Boys Hope Girls Hope, and is very proud of his twelve years of service to this very worthy cause. As a result of being a certified non-profit manager, he has financially assisted with the finances of this tax-exempt organization, and is responsible for raising approximately $3.6 million in donations since 2002. 

He currently lives in Newport Beach with his wife Amanda and son Luke and is an avid golfer, surfer, and musician.

ROBERT J. WEBSTER

Bob Webster is the President of the Hotels Institutional Group with CBRE based in Atlanta. He leads the Institutional Group specializing in full-service investment sales in the United States. In all, Bob has sold more than 165 hotels in the last ten years. He has been recognized by Real Estate Forum magazine as a “Superstar Investment Sales Broker” ranking him the third most productive investment broker in the country. Bob is the recipient of the Jack A. Shaffer Financial Advisor of the Year Award given to the top hotel investment sales professional in the lodging industry. He is the only person to receive the award twice.

 

Bob’s career during the last 40 years has spanned a broad range of disciplines within the hotel industry. Before joining CBRE’s Hotels Group, Bob was Senior Managing Director at JLL for nine years. Prior to that he was Managing Director at Hodges Ward Elliott for 23 years. Bob was also Director of Real Estate for the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, a senior hotel real estate consultant with Laventhol & Horwath in Boston, and started his career as an operations analyst at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. Bob has 35 years of experience specific to hotel real estate.
